Menopause Advice

Menopause is cessation of ovarian function and results in low or no production of ovarian hormones, usually estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.

The following symptoms may result:

  • Hot flushes
  • Dry vagina
  • Painful coitus
  • Abnormal bleeding
  • Lost or reduced libido

Abnormal bleeding should be investigated to exclude uterine cancer as a cause of the bleeding. Hysteroscopy and curettage (D&C) are often performed after ultrasound and other investigations are performed.
